📈 Function Diagram – Phase Loss & Sequence Protection

FCP18-04 Phase Loss and Phase Sequence Protection

• The relay continuously monitors the three-phase supply connected to L1-L2-L3 (and N for 4-wire models).
• When all three phases are present and in correct sequence, the output relay R closes after the fixed 5-second delay. The P LED stays ON.
• If a phase loss is detected, the output relay R opens immediately (within 200ms). The P LED turns OFF.
• If a phase sequence error is detected, the output relay R opens immediately. The P LED flashes.
• When the fault clears, the relay automatically re-closes after the 5-second re-energization delay.

📈 Function Diagram – Overvoltage & Undervoltage Protection

FCP18-04 Overvoltage and Undervoltage Protection

• The relay continuously monitors voltage against the set overvoltage threshold (2%–20%) and undervoltage threshold (-20%–-2%).
• If voltage goes above the overvoltage threshold, the output relay R opens after the fixed 5-second delay. Once voltage returns below the threshold, R automatically re-closes.
• If voltage drops below the undervoltage threshold, the output relay R opens after the fixed 5-second delay. Recovery above the threshold automatically re-closes R.
• The 5-second delay prevents nuisance tripping from short voltage spikes or dips.

📈 Function Diagram – Asymmetry (Phase Imbalance) Protection

FCP18-04 Asymmetry Protection Function Diagram

• The relay calculates the voltage asymmetry percentage between the three phases.
• When asymmetry exceeds the user-set threshold (5%–15%), the output relay R opens after the fixed 5-second delay.
• If asymmetry drops back below the set threshold, the output relay automatically re-closes.
• Adjustable asymmetry protection is essential for preventing motor overheating and damage caused by unbalanced supply voltages.

🔧 Wiring & Terminal Layout

Terminal Identification

L1 — Phase L1 L2 — Phase L2 L3 — Phase L3 N — Neutral (B/D only) 11 — COM 12 — NC 14 — NO
⚠️ Safety Note: Keep the power supply disconnected during the entire installation process. Carefully check the wiring diagram and follow it correctly. Adhere to the specified voltage and current limits for each connection terminal.

3-phase 3-wire models (A/C): Connect L1, L2, L3 directly. No neutral connection required.
3-phase 4-wire models (B/D): Connect L1, L2, L3, and N. The wiring diagram shown is for 4-wire models. For 3-wire models, simply omit the N terminal.

🛠️ Parameter Setting Guide

  1. Enter Parameter Setting Mode: Press and hold the button until the LED starts flashing. This indicates you have entered the configuration mode.
  2. Set Rated Voltage (Un): Use the button to set the correct input voltage for your three-phase system. Available options are shown on the front panel scale.
  3. Set Overvoltage (U>) & Undervoltage (U<) Rate: Configure the overvoltage threshold (2%–20%) and undervoltage threshold (-20%–-2%).
💡 Note: When setting over & under voltage range, if the green LED is ON, add +1% to the scale reading for accurate threshold setting.
  4. Set Asymmetry (Asy) Threshold: Choose the desired asymmetry trip point from 5% to 15% using the dedicated scale. This determines the maximum allowable voltage imbalance before the relay trips.
  5. Confirm and Store: After all parameters are adjusted, press and hold the button until the LED stops flashing. The settings are stored and take effect immediately. The time delay is fixed at 5 seconds and does not require configuration.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

🔹 Can I adjust the asymmetry trip level?
Yes. Unlike the FCP18-03 (fixed 8%), the FCP18-04 allows you to set the asymmetry threshold between 5% and 15% in fine increments, giving you full control over motor protection sensitivity.
🔹 How long is the time delay? Can I change it?
The time delay is fixed at 5 seconds and cannot be adjusted. This applies to all protection functions (phase sequence, under/over voltage, asymmetry). It provides a consistent balance between fast tripping and nuisance immunity.
🔹 How do I set the overvoltage and undervoltage limits?
After entering the setting mode, adjust the U> and U< scales. When the green LED is ON during setting, add 1% to the scale reading for precise thresholds. Confirm by long-pressing the button until the LED stops flashing.
🔹 What happens if the asymmetry drops below the set threshold?
Once the voltage imbalance falls below the set asymmetry percentage, the relay automatically re-closes its output contact (after the 5-second stabilization delay), restoring power to the load.
🔹 What is the mechanical life of the output contacts?
The relay has an outstanding mechanical life of 1×10⁷ operations. Electrical life is 1×10⁵ operations at rated 16A/250V AC load.
🔹 Can I use this for both 3-wire and 4-wire systems?
Yes. Simply select the appropriate sub-model: A or C for 3-phase 3-wire (L-L), B or D for 3-phase 4-wire (L-N). The relay measures voltages according to the connected terminals.
