NO (Normally Open) contacts are open when the relay is de-energized and close when the relay coil is powered. CO (Changeover/Form C) contacts have three terminals: common (COM), normally open (NO), and normally closed (NC). The CO contact switches between NO and NC positions when activated.
For most industrial control applications, CO contacts provide more flexibility as they can be wired as either NO or NC depending on the connection.
